Bitgold Governance Temperature Check¶
Overview¶
Bitgold Network governance uses a two-step process: a temperature check and a final decision vote. The temperature check gauges community sentiment on a proposal; if a proposal receives enough support, it moves to the final decision phase, where staked BTG decides whether it is implemented or rejected.
Submit a proposal¶
Info
Anyone staking BTG can create a temperature-check proposal.
- Open the governance area of the Bitgold app and connect the wallet that holds your staked BTG.
- Choose New proposal.
- Fill in the title, description, and a discussion link.
- Select the voting system, the vote options, and how long the vote should run. Allow enough time for holders to participate.
- Publish the proposal. It appears in the proposal list for the space.
Voting¶

Undelegate voting power¶
- Open Delegation in the governance area.
- Find your current delegatee under the delegate list.
- Remove the delegation and sign the request.
Factors affecting governance power¶
- BTG balance: the more BTG you hold, the greater your voting power.
- Staked BTG: staking BTG, either as a validator or by delegating, contributes to governance power. This aligns voting influence with participants who secure the network.
- Delegated power: BTG holders can delegate their voting power to another address, such as a validator or community representative.
