Bitgold Network — High-Performance EVM Layer 1¶
Bitgold Network is a high-performance, EVM-compatible Layer 1 built for the global asset network. It provides the smart-contract model, tooling, and address format developers already know from Ethereum, with low fees, fast block production, on-chain staking, and on-chain governance.
Bitgold Network is forked from the BSC codebase and will continue to follow upstream development while building its own features.
Key features¶
-
Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility Bitgold is fully compatible with the EVM. Existing Solidity contracts, Ethereum SDKs, and tools such as MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Remix, Hardhat, and Foundry work with Bitgold with minimal or no changes.
-
Fast blocks and low fees Bitgold produces a block roughly every second. Gas is paid in BTG, and the network is designed to keep transaction costs low and predictable for high-throughput applications.
-
Proof of Staked Authority (PoSA) A limited set of elected validators produces blocks in rotation. The validator set is elected by stake, and validators can be delegated to by BTG holders. Fast finality adds an economic finality layer on top of the fork-choice rule.
-
On-chain staking and governance BTG holders can stake with validators, delegate, and participate in on-chain governance. Protocol parameters and the validator set are managed on chain rather than by a centralized operator.
-
A single native asset BTG is the native coin of Bitgold Network. It pays for gas, secures the network through staking, and carries governance weight. The total supply is fixed at 200,000,000 BTG with 18 decimals.
Role of BTG¶
BTG is the native utility and staking asset of Bitgold Network:
- Transaction fees: every transaction on Bitgold pays gas in BTG.
- Staking: validators self-delegate BTG, and delegators stake BTG with validators to share in block rewards.
- Governance: staked BTG gives holders voting weight over proposals and network parameters.
